THE family of a motorcyclist who died in a crash at Oxenhope has paid an emotional tribute, as the police re-appealed for witnesses.

Tony Stevenson suffered fatal injuries after his Suzuki motorcycle collided with a street lamp in Hebden Bridge Road, at 6.20pm on Thursday, June 12 this year.

Now, Mr Stevenson’s family has paid tribute to him, saying he loved riding motorbikes and “lived life to the full”.

The family of Mr Stevenson, who lived in Halifax, said: “Tony was a wonderful partner, dad, son and brother who lived life to the full.

“Tony loved his motorbikes and playing the guitar. Playing Xbox games was also important to him and he especially enjoyed the zombies game.

He was also very sociable and was a well-known face at the Ivy House pub.

“One year he even camped on Ben Nevis in his own tent as a personal challenge to himself.

“Animals also played an important role in his life and he especially adored his pet goat, ‘Bob'."

Marjarie Stevenson, Tony’s mother, said: “Tony has been my rock whilst his dad, Bill, has been extremely poorly and bed ridden.

“He did everything for me, we couldn’t have wished for a better son.”

Friends have also paid tribute, adding: “If only the world was full of people like him, what a better, kinder place it would be."

Meanwhile, the investigation into Mr Stevenson’s death is continuing as officers from the Major Collision Enquiry Team seek to establish what happened in the accident.

They are particularly interested in hearing from the drivers of a silver-coloured Vauxhall Corsa and a mid-blue coloured vehicle.

Sergeant Ann Drury said: “Tony’s death has obviously left a massive gap in his family and they miss him dearly.

“I would appeal for any witnesses or anyone who can provide information about what happened to come forward, especially the drivers of the Vauxhall Corsa and the mid-blue coloured vehicle, the make and model of which is unknown.

“Both vehicles travelled down Hill House Edge Lane and turned right at the junction with Hebden Bridge Road (towards Oxenhope).

“We would like to speak to either driver as they may be able to help us with our enquiries.”

Anyone with any further information on the vehicles is urged to call 101.
