A BOOK has been published in tribute to Cullingworth men who gave their lives during the First World War.

The publication, funded by Cullingworth History Group, contains short biographies of all 47 villagers killed in the conflict.

Group member Diana Tottle carried out the research over several years, from the names inscribed on Cullingworth war memorial.

Copies of 'Cullingworth Memorial – A Tribute to the Fallen of the Great War' can be obtained, priced £5 plus postage, by calling 01535 274161 or from group chairman Derek Goff on 01535 272190.

The book will also be available at history group meetings or from a remembrance exhibition being held at Cullingworth Methodist Church in November.

Mr Goff said initial feedback about the publication had been excellent.

"We are very pleased with the book and the reaction we've had so far has been extremely positive," he said.

"We've had 40 copies printed but that could be increased depending on demand.

"Diana has put in a lot of work to bring the book to fruition. There were only two people on the memorial who we struggled to discover much about."
