Aldi property bosses have granted a brief window for investigations into the felling of the Silsden lime tree due to concerns over whether further approval is needed from Bradford Council.

The issue has been raised that while removal of the tree has been approved - this may be subject to additional approval of landscaping plans for the site. This is scheduled to be discussed on August 25.

Staff from the Ecology Building Society, in Silsden, have promised to defend the tree, which borders their property, after contractors began work to fell it this morning.
