A CONTEST run by a local travel agent and a bicycle shop rewarded the young winner from Silsden with a brand new mountain bike.

10-year-old Hannah Griffiths, of Hothfield Junior School, was one of 20 children from the school take part in the competition run by Destination Travel Agents, in Silsden, and Aire Valley Cycles, in Keighley.

The pupils were challenged to design a holiday postcard, which would need to feature the word 'Destination' and the theme of the Tour de France.

All the entries were displayed in the travel agent's front window, and were also uploaded onto the business's website.

They were judged by Silsden town mayor Councillor Chris Atkinson during the weekend when the Grand Depart passed through Silsden. He was particularly impressed with Hannah's design, which features the word Destination nine times in different colours, arranged to portray the outline of a bike.

Shevaun Joy, who co-owns Destination with Lisa Manditsch, said Hannah had been a deserving winner.

She added: "The prize bike is brilliant, Hannah is really pleased with it, her mum says she's out riding it all the time.

"We wanted to do something that encompassed the Tour de France spirit. Silsden was Tour de France mad, there was an amazing carnival atmosphere here and we wanted to get involved.

"Lots of people looked at the children's designs in our shop window and plenty of people commented on them."
