KEIGHLEY'S Unipart Automotive branch – which shut after the firm went into administration – has today been bought by a competitor.

Euro Car Parts has acquired 27 outlets nationally which belonged to the firm, including the Worth Way premises.

The new owner said it was hoped many ex-Unipart Automotive employees would be retained. Four people worked at the Keighley site.

Martin Gray, chief executive officer of Euro Car Parts, said: “We are delighted to have acquired these 27 branches and may yet acquire more.

"Over the last few days we have been working hard to identify which locations fit into our growth strategy. This deal clearly demonstrates our determination to deliver industry-leading levels of service and availability.

“Most importantly, we are optimistic that many ex-Unipart Automotive employees from these locations will now join Euro Car Parts. We look forward to helping them to continue their careers and bring an end to the uncertainty and stress these past weeks have brought them and their families. “In addition to the site acquisitions, we are also thrilled to announce that last week alone we made offers to over 100 ex-Unipart Automotive employees.

"And during the next 12 to 18 months we will create 1,500 new positions."
