CULLINGWORTH History Group staged a summer outing to Cartmel Priory and Holker Hall, in Cumbria.

The visit was followed by tea at Grange-over-Sands Methodist Church.

"The summer outing has become a firm favourite in the club’s programme," said a spokesman.

The history group was formed in 2000 and meets on the last Wednesday of every month, at Cullingworth Methodist Church.

It has about 70 members.

"We have talks on Cullingworth and other subjects that relate to its local history," said chairman, Derek Goff.

"Also we try to organise exhibitions, for example we are holding one for Remembrance commemorations in November."

And the group has funded a book, Cullingworth Memorial – A Tribute To The Fallen Of The Great War, published as a salute to village men who gave their lives during the First World War.

Research for the book was carried out by member Diana Tottle.
