A MOVIE created by children from Roman Catholic schools in Keighley is to receive its public premiere.

Built On Faith was filmed by pupils of St Anne’s and Our Lady of Victories primary schools as part of Keighley Festival.

It will be screened on Saturday at Keighley Library as part of Keighley Heritage Day.

Keighley Festival spokesman Malcolm Hanson said the 30-minute film recreated two stories from the town’s history.

He said: “It made a big impact at this year's Keighley Festival when it was shown to parents and children at the Picture House Cinema.

"It was an amazing achievement for the children, and the film deserves to be seen by everyone.”

Mr Hanson said the film would be screened at regular intervals throughout the day, so people could go along at any time and see it.

Build On Faith was unveiled at the Picture House, in North Street, at a red carpet screening attended by crowds of pupils and their parents.

The movie was written, produced and directed by children from the two Keighley schools, with a main cast of 20 children plus 70 extras.

The Heritage Open Day, which also involves Keighley and District Local History Society, will be at Keighley Library from the 10am to 4pm.
