POLICE are today appealing for witnesses after a 17-year-old pedestrian was injured following a collision with a car in Keighley town centre.

The girl was involved in a collision with a silver Audi A5 at the traffic lights in East Parade, by the Sainsbury's petrol station, at about 2.10pm on Saturday.

She suffered a fractured right leg and was taken by ambulance to Leeds General Infirmary.

Police sealed off the busy street while emergency services dealt with the incident.

Firefighters were first on the scene, with crews from Keighley and Bingley attending.

"We performed casualty care until paramedics arrived," said a spokesman for Keighley fire service.

"We helped strap-up the casualty's leg and get her on to a board to be taken into an ambulance."

Crew members then made safe the car.

The 29-year-old male driver of the Audi was uninjured.

PC Cheryl Moore, from the Western Area Roads Policing Unit, said: "We would like to speak to anyone who witnessed the collision, or the movements of the Audi immediately prior to it."

Anybody with information should contact PC 5463 Moore on 101 or 01274 376639.
