WORK starts next week on a £180,000 revamp of the toilets in Keighley's Airedale Shopping Centre.

The facility, last given a major makeover more than a decade ago, will be doubled in size.

Shoppers are being asked to use public loos at the nearby bus station while the refurbishment work, due for completion in November, is carried out.

“The feedback from our customers is that toilet facilities are very important when they visit the Airedale Shopping Centre," said centre manager Steve Seymour.

"Let’s be honest everybody needs to nip to the loo, but unfortunately there are fewer and fewer public ones available, especially in town centres.

“That’s why we’ve given such a big commitment to making sure our facilities are the very best.

"We are stripping out the present toilets and everything is being replaced, from the ceilings down to the cubicles and flooring. We have also improved access to the toilets, which we appreciate was a challenge with the old ones."

There will also be new parent-toddler changing facilities and an energy-efficient lighting system.
