TWO local choirs will reunite for a second concert at Skipton's Christ Church on Saturday,

Last year, the Silsden-based Cobbydale Singers got together with Airedale Male Voice Choir, conducted by Steeton man John Smith, for a concert to raise money for church funds.

And it proved so successful that the two choirs have been invited back.

"People enjoyed it so much that they want us to do it again," said Elaine Isherwood, who founded the Cobbydale Singers with friend Christine Barrett 20 years ago.

The choir - which has 18 members - performs songs that people want to hear and Saturday's programme will include numbers such as Some Enchanted Evening.

The 40-voice Airedale Male Voice Choir will also perform a light programme with classics such as Myfanwy, Bring Him Home, When the Saints and You Raise Me Up.

"It is a lovely musical programme," said Mr Smith.

He set up the Airedale choir in 1997 with accompanist Ken Brook and its repertoire is constantly growing, with 180 pieces ranging from Mozart to McCartney and Puccini to Porter.

"We have had a very busy year and we are already two-thirds booked up for 2015," said Mr Smith. "People seem to enjoy smaller groups."

The concert will start at 7.30pm and proceeds will be divided between church funds and Manorlands hospice.

"We want to raise as much money as we can," added Elaine.

Tickets are priced at £6 and are available from Elaine on 01535 655361, John on 01535 653110 or Fleur Lingerie on Newmarket Street, Skipton. Some tickets will also be available on the door.
