THE "thuggery and criminality" which resulted in a Keighley shopkeeper being stabbed outside his business last night has been condemned by a Keighley Central ward councillor.
Coun Khadim Hussain expressed his sympathy for the family of 21-year-old Bilal Majid, who was attacked outside Showfield Newsagents, at the junction of Cark Road and East Avenue, shortly before 7pm yesterday.
Police have detained two male teenagers, aged 13 and 14 on suspicion of wounding with intent and investigations are continuing.
Coun Hussain said he visited the scene of the attack about an hour and a half later.
"This is a horrific incident," he added. "Keighley is again making headlines for the wrong reasons. I'm sure the police will be working hard to get to the bottom of this, and I fully support them."
