A COURAGEOUS girl from Glusburn Community Primary School switched on the Christmas tree lights in Cross Hills.
Nine-year-old Tyler Manley had a brain tumour removed in September 2013 and spent seven months recovering at Leeds General Infirmary.
The switch-on was part of an evening of Christmas festivities in the village’s Main Street, organised by the South Craven Together group.
Group spokesman Mohammed Hafejee said Tyler, who is part of the school choir, was still undergoing chemotherapy.
He said: “She has returned to school full time and has amazed everyone at how well she is doing.”
Mr Hafejee said the Cross Hills Extravaganza, now in its second year, was an “action packed and joyous” festive evening, with Santa’s Grotto and donkey rides proving particularly popular.
There were also carol singers, face painters, musicians, a raffle and a treasure hunt.
