A TEENAGE boy has raised more than £600 for a hospice in tribute to care given to his younger brother.

Thomas McQuaid, 14, played his flute over two days at Keighley's Airedale Shopping Centre.

His effort coined-in £605 for Martin House Children's Hospice at Boston Spa, where brother Niall died aged just seven weeks in 2006.

Dad Liam, a Keighley jeweller, said: "Thomas has done bits of fundraising before for Martin House with the family but this was his first solo event.

"He enjoyed it and did really well and is hoping to repeat it.

"I would like to thank the centre manager, Steve Seymour, for allowing Thomas to play there and the people of Keighley for their generosity."

Mr McQuaid, of Raffles in Brunswick Arcade, has raised more than £23,000 for Martin House over the years through various activities.

And last year his wife, Anna, boosted funds by taking part in the Great North Run.
