HOUSEHOLDERS in Braithwaite and Shann Park have been warned to be extra vigilant for burglars.
Keighley town councillor John Kirby issued the call this week following a spate of burglaries in the two adjoining Keighley neighbourhoods.
He said that one thief had taken car keys from a house in Shann which enabled him to steal a car from outside. In another alleged incident a camper van was broken into.
Keighley police this week revealed there had been two break-ins between February 25 and 26 at homes at South View, Braithwaite.
A thief broke into a kitchen and took the keys to a Land Rover, and in the other incident a burglar took a mobile phone and a coat.
Cllr Kirby said that in the last fortnight police had carried out extra patrols through the evening and night in the neighbourhoods.
He said: “There’s only so much the police can do. I’m asking residents to take extra care and if they see anyone acting suspiciously late at night to phone the police.”
Anyone with information about any of the incidents should call the police non-emergency number 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
