SUPERMARKET customers in Keighley were real sports when it came to helping local students.

They say that donated £590 to help youngsters from Oakbank School with the cost of a forthcoming sports tour to Barcelona.

Students and teachers from the Keighley school gave up their Sunday to bag pack at the town’s Sainsbury’s store.

Duncan Turner, the charity coordinator for Sainsbury’s in Keighley, said: “During their day they had plenty of interaction with customers and Sainsbury’s colleagues.

“It was good to see so many courteous youngsters having a good time whilst raising funds and they were a joy to have in store.”

Barcelona has a long sporting tradition including hosting the Olympic Games in 1992 and several matches during the 1982 World Cup at its two international stadiums.

The city has also hosted about 30 sports events of international significance.

FC Barcelona is classed as the second richest football club in the world, and has won the UEFA Champions League four times.
