WORK is being carried out in the grounds of Keighley New Church at Braithwaite village.

The project aims to improve access between the church and hall and create a better car park surface.

Ben Guest of FB Guest has supplied a large quantity of materials and John Bailey, of AM Services, has supervised the land preparation and creation of new block-paved paths.

Church council member, Phillip Brooks, said: "The surfaces around the buildings had become very muddy and slippery over the past 20 years.

"We commissioned this project to create a hard, dry path between the church buildings and the disabled ramp so a wheelchair can easily move around, to say nothing of preventing any bride's shoes or dress being spoilt by mud deposits!

"Also, cars will be able to utilise the sloping part of the parking area which had become too slippery in wet winter weather."
