DISABLED people in Keighley can take part in a sponsored cycle ride across through Europe.
They will provide the ride to Bradford’s twin town of Hamm, in Germany, supported by able-bodied ‘mentors’.
One of the mentors is leading Keighley cyclist John Dennis who has taken part in several previous rides to Hamm.
Bradford Disability Sport and Leisure (BDSL), which runs several activity groups in Keighley, organises a fundraising ride to Hamm every two years.
The latest ride is the first to include a group disabled cyclists, who each have to raise £600 in sponsorship.
Specialist bikes are available for those who cannot use traditional two-wheel bikes.
BDSL spokesman Barry Thorne said the ride would be split into 60-mile sections and would only be on European cycleways.
He added: “The project is all about promoting disability cycling and access for all.”
Anyone wishing to take part, or willing to sponsor the riders, should contact Mr Thorne by e-mailing bsr1@btconnect.com.
