POLICE investigating the theft of electrical goods from a children's cancer ward are hoping to trace a stolen item that could have been sold recently in Keighley.

Some of these goods were stolen from the Candlelighters charity at Leeds General Infirmary (LGI) earlier this month.

Officers from Leeds City Neighbourhood Policing Team have managed to recover three of the four laptops belonging to the Candlelighters charity that were taken. A mobile phone stolen in a separate incident was also recovered.

A 37-year-old man from Keighley has been arrested in connection with the thefts and is currently on police bail pending further enquiries.

Officers are now appealing for anyone who has recently purchased a Dune HD Smart H1 media player in the Keighley area to contact them.

Sergeant Pat Kenning, of the City neighbourhood policing team, said: "We are really pleased with all the assistance we have had from the public that has helped in recovering the majority of the stolen items.

"We hope anyone who has bought this distinctive media player since the beginning of July, or who knows where it might be, will get in touch so it can be returned to the Candlelighters charity."

Anyone with information is asked to contact PC 4009 Matthew Hague at Leeds Central Police Station on 0113 2413833 or via 101. They can also call 0800 555111 to speak to Crimestoppers anonymously.
