A FUNDRAISING rugby tournament in memory of a 23-year-old Haworth man who died while on holiday is being finalised.

The nine-a-side tribute event, dubbed Danny Kelly's Memorial 9s, will take place at Cougar Park from 11am till 6pm on October 18.

Entry is £5 and there will be a bar and a food stand.

Teams signed up to take part are Keighley Albion, Cowling, Silsden Park Rangers, Worth Village, Keighley Rugby Union and West Craven Warriors.

Mr Kelly, who was a keen amateur rugby player, drowned off the coast of the Greek island of Zakynthos on August 24. It is believed he was the victim of a serious assault and had fled into the sea to escape. Police are investigating the circumstances of his death.

Money from the tournament will go towards Mr Kelly's children.

People wanting to attend, or businesses interested in sponsoring the event, should visit the Danny Kelly's Memorial 9s Facebook page for more details.
