A TEENAGE drug dealer, peddling heroin and crack cocaine on the streets after he was pressured and threatened, has been spared an immediate custodial sentence.

Mohammed Khaliq, 19, was spotted by police coming out of an alleyway near Eagle Street in Keighley, Bradford Crown Court was told today.

Khaliq, of Carrbottom Avenue, Bankfoot, Bradford, had 36 wraps of crack cocaine and 12 wraps of heroin on him, prosecutor Michael Smith said.

He pleaded guilty to possession of the drugs with intent to supply on February 17.

Khaliq, of previous good character, told the police he was pressured into street dealing to pay off a cannabis debt. He said people had threatened to harm his family.

Khaliq's barrister, Jayne Beckett, said he was not criminally sophisticated and had now moved away from Keighley.

He had enrolled on a college course and was hoping to get a job at a call centre.

Mrs Beckett said Khaliq was no longer taking cannabis and had the support of his family.

He was sentenced to two years in a young offender institution, suspended for two years, with 150 hours of unpaid work and a probation service rehabilitation requirement.
