A MAN went to his former partner's house in defiance of a court order because he had concerns over her new boyfriend, Skipton magistrates heard.

Christopher White, 29, admitted breaching the non-molestation order barring him from contacting or approaching Elizabeth Rush, but denied harassment or intimidation when he went to her house in Croft Street, Glusburn, on May 10.

At today's Newton Hearing to establish the facts, White, of Rosemount Court, Sutton-in-Craven, claimed he wanted to talk to Craig Lee because he did not want him smoking cannabis in front of his and Miss Rush's young baby.

He had gone first to Mr Lee's house and after failing to find him there, had gone over the road to Miss Rush's house, but claimed he was unaware Mr Lee had been there at the time, the court heard.

He denied being abusive to Miss Rush and said he had only reacted when she had told him he was pathetic three times, and then only to tell her to leave him alone.

He added he wanted nothing more to do with his former partner of two years and that he had a new life with a new girlfriend and a baby on the way.

Both Miss Rush and Mr Lee told the court how White had shouted through the window as they sat drinking coffee on the sofa at around 7.30pm on May 10. They said he had appeared very drunk and had continued to be abusive when Miss Rush went to the front door.

Mr Lee claimed White was abusive and aggressive, looked at him and said he was a "dead man walking2 and had called Miss Rush abusive names.

Mr Lee's son, Thomas, also told the court how White had earlier knocked six or seven times aggressively on his front door while he was upstairs and how he had sounded drunk and very angry.

Magistrates accepted White's version of events, saying he had been consistent, while the witnesses had not and had given different accounts.

The bench accepted his guilty plea for breaching the non-molestation order.

Sentencing was adjourned for reports to Friday, November 6.
