KEIGHLEY'S glittering business awards are this year poised to be the best yet.

Planning is now well under way for the fourth annual extravaganza.

The awards, which showcase and honour outstanding businesses throughout the district, have become a popular fixture on the town's calendar.

Last year, accolades were handed out across ten categories.

The coveted overall Business of the Year Award went to Feature Radiators, which also scooped three individual section honours.

Compere for the black-tie ceremony, at Victoria Hall in Keighley, was journalist and BBC Look North presenter Harry Gration.

Businesses are being invited to attend an event at the Leeds City College Keighley Campus, in Bradford Road, on March 4 to launch this year's awards.

"We've had some fantastic feedback following last year's event and this year's will be even better," said a spokesman.

"During the past couple of months, the steering committee has begun planning, with some old and new members – all keen to see what we can do.

"Already we've had some great interest in sponsorship of the awards."

At the launch – which starts at 3pm – details of this year's categories will be unveiled, together with information about how to enter and sponsorship opportunities.

There will also be a chance to network and to meet the steering group, chaired by Howard Martin and Steven Burles.

The awards ceremony will once again take place at Victoria Hall, on June 17.

"The Keighley Business Awards were created to showcase the success and achievements of businesses in the district," added the spokesman.

"They are a celebration of hard work, innovation and integrity in the business world and recipients will be forever documented within its history.

"An awards show dedicated to the achievements of our great businessmen and women was long overdue in the area, hence why a group of like-minded local business people and organisations came together and dedicated their own time to make such a ceremony possible.

"All the individuals involved are passionate about Keighley and district businesses and truly want them to be recognised and rewarded in their own right."

Councillor Susan Hinchcliffe, Bradford Council's portfolio holder for employment, skills and culture, said at last year's event that the awards continued to get better every time.

"They show what Keighley is capable of and the energy and can-do attitude of businesses here," she added.
