MULTI award-winning Acorn Stairlifts has collected another accolade.

The Steeton-based company has won a Made in Yorkshire award for the design of its stairlifts.

The Advanced Manufacturer/Technology honour was handed over in a ceremony at the Royal Armouries, Leeds.

Receiving the award were Acorn training manager Alvaro Gonzalez and Harriet Clay, from the installations team, who were both recently named company employee of the month.

They were sporting Marie Curie daffodils to celebrate the firm's new national partnership with the charity

Judges said they were impressed with how Acorn used technology to install stairlifts quickly and paid particular tribute to the FastTrack system, for curved staircases.

"I am delighted that our FastTrack solution has been recognised as the world-beating product that it is," said company secretary, Dave Belmont.

"Acorn has won a number of awards over the years but this is the first time the design of our stairlifts has received such an accolade."

The firm now goes forward to the national Made in the UK finals, where it will be up against winners from seven other regions.
