WOULD ewe believe it!

Oxenhope Sue Ryder hospice Manorlands is used to welcoming visitors.

But one caller at the Keighley Road building created more of a stir than most.

The cuddly young lamb was brought in at the request of a patient and spent time at his bedside before going on to visit others in the day therapy unit.

"This particular patient is very fond of animals – and the needs of the patients and their loved ones are at the heart of everything we do," said hospice director, Lizzie Procter.

"Studies have demonstrated that contact with animals can be very beneficial for patients, helping to reduce stress and contributing to their general well-being."

Andrew Wood, senior fundraiser at Manorlands, said the team was delighted to help with the request.

He added: "When we were asked to find a lamb for the gentleman we straight away thought of Lucy Thornton – who runs animal experiences through her business, ACE-Workshops.

"Lucy has plans for a fundraising event for the hospice in the near future.

"We'd like to thank her for bringing in the lamb. Many patients and the staff enjoyed meeting our new-born visitor."
