HARDEN Parish Council hope to improve the inscriptions on the village war memorial.

Councillors heard at a recent meeting that Bradford Council planned to carry out cleaning and re-pointing at the memorial at the junction of Long Lane and Wilsden Road.

Councillors decided that once the memorial was cleaned they would meet council parks officer Mel Smith to look at possible enhancements to the inscriptions.

Historic Even England this month announced that the village war memorial had become a grade II listed property, following an application by harden Parish Council.

The hope is the inscriptions can be made clearer to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the memorial’s erection in 2020.

Also at the parish council meeting, councillors spoke about possible sources of funding, including landfill grants organisation WREN, for monkey bars on the Harden play area.

Councillors heard that Bradford Council would cover the £50 cost of planting a beech tree in Harden Park, while the parish council would provide up to £100 to replace cherry trees on Wilsden Road the council received a report that
