A PROPOSAL for four new homes at Whin Knowle in Cross Lane, Oxenhope, was recommended for refusal by members of Oxenhope Parish Council.

They considered the application at their latest full council meeting earlier this month.

The applicant has applied to convert an existing garage and workshop into a one-bedroom home, and to construct a terrace of three three-bedroom houses in the garden of the property.

The statement accompanying the plans argues the development would be in character with its surroundings, with the proposed buildings designed as traditional stone-built cottages.

It notes: "The majority of the existing mature trees within the site would be left untouched, although some may require pruning.

"A single track access is proposed to the dwellings, and the existing gateway leading to the track would be enlarged. Off-road parking places will be provided adjacent to the properties."

However, Cllr Peter McManus said Bradford Council highways officers were opposed to the plans.

"I think this would completely ruin the character of the conservation area and I believe the access is dangerous," he added.

Parish councillors said the application should be rejected. It will be decided by Bradford Council's planners.
