A KEIGHLEY schoolgirl has raised almost £800 for charity after shedding her long hair.

Emma Ejankowski, 11, had been been growing her hair for six years when she heard about the work of the Little Princess Trust.

She decided to donate her flowing locks to the trust to transform into a wig for a girl who has lost her own hair due to serious illness.

She also set out to raise sponsorship for the £350 needed to create the wig, but she had already raised twice that before a trip to the hair salon.

Oakworth Primary School pupil Emma’s mother, Jenny, this week said the total had topped £785 and is still rising.

She added: “I am so proud of her.

"In total, Emma donated 12 inches of her hair. I would also like to thank Coden hair salon for cutting Emma’s hair.

“Emma knows her hair and the money she has raised will help the Little Princess Trust so much, and is already thinking of other things she can do for charity.”

Anyone wishing to sponsor Emma should visit the Just Giving website and type 'Emma's ponytail donation' into the search box.
