THE NEW mayor of Silsden has visited Hothfield Junior School.

Town councillor Peter Robinson spoke to year four pupils about the duties he will undertake and what he has been working on in Silsden.

The Hothfield School blog reported that the children were extremely excited to welcome the mayor.

It said: “One thing the mayor and the children feel very strongly about is the problem of litter and dog mess around the town, which they feel makes Silsden look messy and unattractive to visitors as well as being a health hazard.

“The children have written letters to the mayor and town council requesting that more bins are installed in different locations.”

The Hothfield pupils asked questions such as what inspired Cllr Robinson to become mayor, and what his favourite food was.

The blog added: “The children were completely engaged and thrilled. They gained so much from meeting Mr Robinson and we are very grateful to him for giving his time to visit us.”
