THE QUEEN took time out of her busy 90th birthday schedule to visit Lees Primary School.
Pupils were overjoyed to greet Her Majesty, alias school administrator Sharon Treece, during their day of festivities.
The school had originally planned a street party in the playground but had to bring the event indoors due to rain.
Parental involvement worker Jodie Hawksworth said: “The children celebrated with picnic lunches, flags and party poppers whilst singing God Save the Queen which they had all one during the week.
“Singer Tom Clegg from the band Maia came into school and performed for the children.”
Over the next few weeks the school will continue its theme of 'Best of British' by taking part in maypole dancing, a British Bake Off competition and a Britain’s Got Talent contest.”
