A KEIGHLEY-based social enterprise is staging a programme of activities to keep children entertained during the school holidays.

Get Out More CIC has won Big Lottery Awards for All cash to organise outdoor pursuits for youngsters in the Keighley East ward.

The Outdoor Adventure Club will include activities, such as den building, woodland crafts, bushcraft and campfire cooking.

Sessions, run by qualified leaders, are:

l Hainworth Wood – for children aged eight and under and their families, July 26 and August 2 and 9, 3.30pm to 5pm. Meet at Hainworth Wood Community Centre.

l Park Wood – for young people aged nine to 15, August 17-20, 1pm to 3.30pm. Meet at the gate to the woods, Kendal Street.

l Riddlesden St Mary's Primary School – forest school, July 26 and August 2, 9 and 16. Places must be booked in advance via annie@getoutmorecic.co.uk.

Get Out More managing director, Annie Berrington, said: "The summer holidays are a great time to be outdoors, come rain or shine, but many children get bored at home or spend too much time playing on their phones and devices.

"Keighley has some wonderful and accessible outdoor spaces that we can enjoy for free.

"The aim of the Outdoor Adventure Club is to encourage children and young people to get out more, meet new people and enjoy what nature has to offer.

"If the programmes go well we hope to continue some sessions after school and in the next school holidays, too."
