MANORLANDS' garden party raised almost £11,000, organisers have revealed.

The extravaganza was held in the grounds of the Oxenhope Sue Ryder hospice on July 10.

Fundraisers said they were delighted with the final total.

"We would like to say a huge thank-you to everyone who gave their support," said Liv Moffat, a member of the organising team.

"Without the hard work of all the volunteers who give their time so willingly, the event wouldn't happen.

"Our thanks are extended to all those who provided stalls and attractions, those who helped in any way and the public for coming along on the day."

The garden party – the 40th – was officially opened by BBC Look North presenter Harry Gration.

Stalls sold everything from books, cakes, soft toys, jewellery and plants to home produce, bottles, bric-a-brac, linens and crafts.

Among those providing entertainment were Haworth Brass Band, Crossroads Boogie, Haworth Ukulele Group and Eastburn Fitness.

Police horses proved a popular draw, as did the Home Guard, which brought along military vehicles.

There was also a bouncy castle, coconut shy, face painting, hook a duck, children's crafts, complementary therapies and a barbecue.

An auction, tombolas and raffle, featuring many donated items, were held.

The event was sponsored by Clever Energy Boilers, which also had a stall.
