A SILSDEN community interest company is planning a series of craft sessions.

Been Busy has outlined its proposals in the wake of the announcement that its shop will shut.

The company revealed earlier this month that the Kirkgate premises – which provide an outlet from which crafters can sell their goods – is to close tomorrow (Sept 23), due to plummeting sales.

But workshops will continue elsewhere.

"Interestingly we have had really good sales since we announced our decision to close the shop," said Angela Malcolm, who founded the venture with husband Neil two years ago.

"We have had new customers and some who've been before but wanted particular items as gifts.

"Several orders for personalised items have been passed on to the crafters concerned.

"We still have a full range of lovely products available and will be selling until we close.

"We've had lots of good wishes and gratitude from people who have benefitted from what we set-up.

"All in all, we now feel ready to move forward."

Sessions are being staged at the premises this week.

And then activities will take place at Silsden Town Hall from 10am to 2pm on Thursdays.

They will be launched on October 20, when there will also be a drop-in for people to learn more and provide input about what they would like to see.

Planned sessions include quilting and sewing, card making and paper crafts, wet felting and wreath and decoration making.

There will also be a craft fair, on October 29.

Full details will appear at beenbusysilsden.com and on the Friends of Silsden Town Hall website.
