A KEIGHLEY-based charity is more than £860 better off thanks to a group of fundraising rugby players.

Keighley & Airedale Cancer Support has received a boost from members of the Wharfedale Senior Colts Rugby Team.

The players kindly volunteered to have their legs waxed for the charity.

The waxing was done by Gina Wolstencroft from Cullingworth's Hair Flair salon, and took place in Skipton on August 21.

Rachael Moorhouse, one of the founders of Keighley & Airedale Cancer Support, said: "The event was a great success.

"Alongside the waxing we had a raffle, cake stall, reflexology, and Indian head massage taster sessions.

"It was a fun packed day. On behalf of Keighley and Airedale Cancer support I'd personally like to thank everyone who came and supported us.

"The grand total raised so far is £861.51 with some sponsor money still to be collected."

The charity was set up more than four years ago to help people in and around Keighley who have cancer. It also offers support to those who care for them.

Although the charity was originally in Keighley Civic Centre it is now based in New Devonshire House, in Devonshire Street.
