CHILDREN at Steeton Primary have celebrated the completion of work to renovate their school library.

To mark the occasion they enjoyed a week of activities designed to promote a love of poetry, reading and books.

The newly refurbished library provided the ideal setting for pupils to listen to a selection of exciting and funny stories read to them by Yorkshire-based children's author Saviour Pirotta.

A spokesman for Steeton Primary said: "Saviour has long championed Steeton Primary School to encourage our children to enjoy reading and listen to fabulous literature.

"Saviour opened the library, which has been partly funded by the Friends of Steeton School.

"All of the children were also treated to poetry workshops presented by the very talented, local performance-poet, comedian and musician Craig Bradley.

"The children have undoubtedly been inspired by these visits and are extremely keen to use their new facility.

"If any individual or company would like to sponsor the library for further development or other exciting events, they can directly contact the school."
