A DEDICATION service has been held for a Worth Valley Rainbow group's brand new flag.

The event for 1st Cross Roads Rainbows was staged at St James Church, in Cross Roads, earlier this month. (October)

Among those who attended were most of the young members of the Rainbows group, their leaders, and division commissioner Kay Bolton.

Shona Wilson, who is one of the leaders of 1st Cross Roads Rainbows, had previously organised a sponsored nature trail to raise money to pay for the flag and its accessories.

Hazel Wilson, leader of the group, explained that after a new flag is bought it needs to be formally blessed at a dedication service before it can be officially used.

She said that while Rainbows can't take part in street processions they can participate in indoor parades, which is why 1st Cross Roads Rainbows needed to have their own, unique flag.
