ACTIVITIES are planned in Keighley as part of the ninth annual Bradford Family Learning Festival.

Historic East Riddlesden Hall is among several attractions and organisations from across the district taking part in the extravaganza, which runs until October 29.

There is a programme of more than 100 free activities district-wide, based on the theme All About Me.

And the festival includes two 'super Saturdays', featuring an array of events.

National Trust property East Riddlesden Hall is staging fun Hallowe'en sessions, including spell-casting and making costumes, from Monday to Wednesday next week.

Emily Taylor, volunteering and community involvement manager at the 17th-century property, said: "We are excited to take part in this wonderful festival.

"Come along, have fun and step away from the every day!"

Other events locally include a photo frame fun session, hosted by Bradford Libraries, at Silsden Town Hall at 10.30am on Tuesday. Children can enjoy an All About Me storytime then create their own photo frame.

Plus Cliffe Castle Museum is hosting activities, including crafts and a bird trail, from Tuesday until the end of the month.

Susan Brewster-Craig, from Bradford Libraries, said: "There is so much to discover – we recommend people take a look at our Facebook page for details of what's going on near them.

"We really want to bring families together to learn in a fun and friendly environment."

All libraries are encouraging visitors to take part in a selfie competition and book challenge.

Bridget Izod, development officer support assistant for the libraries service, said: "We're delighted to be part of the Family Learning Festival again this year, with events in all our libraries.

"Families can get involved in making books, creating funny disguises, crafting fun photo frames and painting selfies, too!"

The hour-long session is for children aged three to six. Booking is essential, by calling the library on 01535 618212.

Pyjama Drama is the title of a fun session at Keighley Library. Families will be led through a magical adventure, making friends and having fun on Wednesday from 12.15pm.

The festival is also incorporating events from the nationwide campaign, The Big Draw.

Councillor Sarah Ferriby, Bradford Council's executive member for environment, sport and culture, said: "This is an excellent way of bringing families together and giving them the opportunity to learn whilst having fun.

"Year on year, the amount of visitors increases and this year we are hoping for record numbers.

"There is something for everyone, be it in the wonderful City Park location or in one of the libraries across the district."
