KEIGHLEY band Wolf 359 will support rock aristocrats the Hawklords at Bingley Arts Centre on Friday November 4.

Hawklords are made up of members of the legendary 1970s space rock group Hawkwind.

Wolf 359, meanwhile, started out as a covers band playing AC/DC and Led Zeppelin covers during electric jam nights at the Cricketers Arms in Keighley.

Wolf 359 member Patch Kelly said: “We started working on our debut EP over 12 months ago, and listening to how the tracks are sounding now I’m glad we’ve taken this long.

“This year in particular has been a big one for the band, with line-up changes, big gigs both here in Keighley and outside of Yorkshire, battling illness, and lots of other ‘roadblocks’.

“It looks like we’re gonna be seeing out 2016 with a bang, and 2017 looks incredibly promising.”

Hawklords were formed by Robert Calvert and Dave Brock of Hawkwind from the ashes of The Sonic Assassins in 1978.

The Hawklords re-emerged in 2009 with a memorial concert in London for legendary British artist Barney Bubbles, graphic designer for many of Hawkwind's early 1970s albums.

They released an album in 2015, R:Evolution, described by one critic as a “sonic slab of classic British space-rock”.

The latest album Fusion explores the themes of sex, death, art, identity and time, featuring 'real' songs and a “strangely beautiful” electronic and glissando guitar piece from Harvey Bainbridge (synthesiser and vocals) and Jerry Richards (guitars, multi-instrumentalist and vocals).

The other members of Hawklords are drummer Dave Pearce, lead singer Ron Tree and bassist and singer Tom Ashurst.

Kim McAuliffe, from rock band Girlschool, provides a lead vocal on one of the songs called SR-71, a commentary on the American Dream.

The album is accompanied by a tour featuring a digital projected lightshow created by lighting designer and tour circuit veteran Dave 'Lighthouse' Johnson.

That tour arrives at Bingley on November 4, and is the latest Arts Centre concert to be organised by BAC2Live following their sell-out summer gig by Dead Daisies.
