VOLUNTEERS are being sought to serve on Bradford Council's school appeals panel.

The body considers appeals from parents whose children have been denied a place at their preferred school.

Appeals take place throughout the school year, but peak in the summer ahead of children starting in reception or year seven in September.

Panel members receive travel and subsistence expenses.

Councillor Imran Khan, the council's executive member for education, employment and skills, said: "This is an important process of our education system.

"We need more impartial people who are available to join our existing team.

"We value our panel members hugely and recognise their service as essential to the management of school appeals in Bradford."
