A BLAZE in a bin chute smoke-logged the corridors of a Keighley high-rise block of flats.

The fire broke out this afternoon on the ground floor at Kennedy House.

Crews from Keighley and Bingley fire stations were called out to deal with the incident.

They used a hose reel to extinguish the flames and a special high-pressure fan to clear the smoke from the 11-storey building.

None of the individual flats were affected and no evacuation was necessary.

It is believed the fire may have been caused by a cigarette discarded in rubbish.
