A MAN arrested after a knife incident in Keighley on Wednesday will appear in court this morning.

A man in his 20s was injured after an alleged knifepoint assault just before 4pm at the Alston Retail Park off the Victoria Park roundabout.

The victim suffered a head injury and received treatment at the scene, and a man in his 40s was arrested in Russell Street shortly afterwards.

Police reported that the man had resisted arrest and thrown the knife at them as they tried to detain him.

He was arrested, and was due to appear before Bradford Magistrates this morning charged with assault, possession of a knife or bladed object, and criminal damage.

A spokesman for West Yorkshire Police said on Thursday: "Police were called to Alston Retail Park in Keighley at 3.59pm yesterday following a report of an assault by a man with a knife.

"Officers were given a description of the male and arrested a man in his forties in Russell Street a short time later.

"He was arrested on suspicion of several offences, including assault and affray. A man in his twenties suffered bruising to his head and was treated at the scene.

"No police officers were injured in the incident."
