NATIONAL Theatre hit drama The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time is returning to Leeds Grand.

The Olivier and Tony Award-winning production of Mark Haddon’s acclaimed teenage novel will be staged from Tuesday, February 8 to Saturday, March 4.

Christopher Boone, 15, stands beside Mrs Shears’ dead dog, which has been speared with a garden fork, and he is under suspicion.

He records each fact in a book he is writing to solve the mystery of who murdered Wellington. He has an extraordinary brain, and is exceptional at maths while ill-equipped to interpret everyday life.

He has never ventured alone beyond the end of his road, he detests being touched and distrusts strangers.

But Christopher’s detective work, forbidden by his father, takes him on a frightening journey that upturns his world.

National Theatre producer Kash Bennett said: “We were overwhelmed by the enthusiastic reception from audiences around the UK and Ireland when we toured The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time in 2014-15, playing to almost 400,000 people, and are delighted to take this beautiful and inventive show to new venues and make a return visit to others in 2017.”

The Grand Theatre recently announced several new shows for 2017; from dance to drama, musicals to comedy, and concerts to children’s shows.

La Cage aux Folles, running from March 20 to 25, is a major new production of the West End and Broadway award-winning musical.

Also coming up: Willy Russell comedy Shirley Valentine (April 3-8); Michael Jackson tribute Thriller Live (April 11-15); musical Thoroughly Modern Millie (April 17, 1922); Ruth Rendell thriller A Judgement In Stone (April 24-29); David Williams family play Gangsta Grannie (May 3-7).
