A MAN arrested after an alleged knife incident in Keighley on Wednesday last week has appeared in court.

A man in his 20s was injured after a knifepoint assault just before 4pm at the Alston Retail Park off the Victoria Park roundabout.

The victim suffered a head injury and received treatment at the scene, and a man in his 40s was arrested in Russell Street shortly afterwards.

Police reported that the man had resisted arrest and thrown the knife at them as they tried to detain him.

The man appeared before Bradford Magistrates on Friday charged with assault, criminal damage, affray, and possession of an offensive weapon.

A spokesman for West Yorkshire Police confirmed that police were called to Alston Retail Park in Keighley following a report of an assault by a man with a knife.

He said: "Officers were given a description of the male and arrested a man in his forties in Russell Street a short time later.

"No police officers were injured in the incident."

The man was remanded to Bradford Crown Court on March 13.
