Delays are reported on A629 Skipton to Cross Hills Road after a car crashed into a wall above the road.
The accident happened at Cononley Lane End, with the car crashing into the wall alongside the road about the A629.
A police spokesman said that no one had been hurt in the incident and that engineers from North Yorkshire County Council’s highways department were currently assessing the damage.
Debris is believed to have landed on the road, leading to the closure.
The main road was closed for a time but is now thought to be reopened, but police say people are causing congestion by stopping to have a look at the scene.
They advice people to drive with care in the area.
