KEIGHLEY firefighters spent last night tackling a moorland fire at Rishworth near Halifax.

They sped to the scene at 10pm and spent six hours helping crews from across West Yorkshire fight the blaze.

The fire, which had a half-mile flame front driven by the wind, was visible from junction 22 of the M62.

Eight fire appliances were used in the operation, along with specialist moorland equipment from Keighley. The firefighters used leaf blowers, beaters and ‘aquaback’ packs.
