A HOST of activities is planned for when the third stage of the Tour de Yorkshire – which passes through the Keighley district – gets under way.

The cycle race begins its final day, on April 30, in Bradford before heading out this way.

At City Park, celebrations will include a circus, theatre and music, a magical penny farthing experience, Dhol drummers and a pop-up cycling museum.

Regional tourism bosses hope people will turn out in numbers to enjoy the entertainment as well as the race itself.

Sir Gary Verity, chief executive of Welcome to Yorkshire, said: "The Tour is about so much more than the race – it's about bringing people and communities together and we'd encourage everyone heading out to watch the race to embrace all the other fantastic activities taking place over the weekend."

Councillor Sarah Ferriby, Bradford Council's executive member for environment, sport and culture, said: "We are so proud Bradford has been chosen as the start for Stage Three of this year's race and that the route will go through so many wonderful parts of our district."

After arriving at Farnhill at 1.49pm and Kildwick at 1.50pm, the cyclists will then continue to Silsden at 1.53pm, Cote de Silsden at 2pm, Riddlesden at 2.03pm, Keighley at 2.06pm, Cross Roads at 2.12pm, Haworth at 2.15pm, Cote de Haworth at 2.17pm, Oxenhope at 2.22pm, Leeming at 2.25pm, Cote de Leeming at 2.27pm and Denholme at 2.28pm.

Timings have been calculated by anticipating the peloton's average speed, but are subject to change depending on factors such as the wind speed and direction.
