AN ICE cold treat heralded summer for the Parkside School students who never missed a day last year.

Students who achieved 100 per cent attendance throughout the year at the Cullingworth school were treated to an ice cream.

School spokesman Majella McColgan said: “We arranged for the ice cream van to come playing its tune, and all the 100 per cent attendees had been given a voucher for their 99s.

“We also gave vouchers to teachers to distribute in their classes as prizes for the last day's activities, which included quizzes and other competitions.

“Everyone said it was a great success. This is the second year we have done this and we will definitely be doing it again next year!”

The year 11 leavers Class of 2017 celebrated their Prom last month at the Mercure Hotel in Bingley.

Majella said: "The event was fantastically well attended by students and staff, the weather was great and everyone looked amazing. The atmosphere was also terrific and was a great way to mark the end of an era for our students.”
