LOTHERSDALE Young Farmers staged a bumper 83rd annual show.

There was a strong sheep section, an array of baking and handicraft entries and classes for hens, dogs, tractors and machinery.

The traditional fell race also took place.

"Despite poor weather a great day was had by all," said club leader, Denise Dobson.

"A big 'thank you' goes to the Smith family for the loan of its field, all the sponsors and raffle prize donators, everyone who took part and all those who helped organise the event."

Trophy winners were: J Gill Sheep Cup and Advisory Shield for most points other YFC, Georgina Hobson; Springs Trophy for most sheep points, Paul & White Cup for best LYFC home reared, N Sykes Tractor Cup and Boothman Cup for LYFC junior with most points, Daniel Dobson; WR Airey Cup for fat lamb, Josh Lawn; Poultry Cup for best LYFC bird, James Fieldhouse; Domestic & Handicrafts, Rachael Bell; BOCM Cup for best indoor exhibit, Mrs E Smith; Girls Advisory Shield, Cathie Cromarty; Children's Trophy, Megan Booth. Fell race – Hare & Hounds Cup for first LYFC back, John Smith; Parker Family Shield for first local back, Alice Jones; Girls Guild Trophy for first local girl back, Mollie Smith.
