A KEIGHLEY woman will sacrifice her hair for a good cause in the town centre this weekend.

Ann Fitzgerald will take on the Brave The Shave challenge in the Airedale Shopping Centre in aid of cancer charity Macmillan.

Ann, who works at The Fragrance Shop in the centre, will participate in the fundraiser at 2pm on Saturday, (September 23) in memory of her father Keith Worsley who died of cancer in December 2016.

She said: “This is a huge undertaking for me, but I’m really committed to doing this for a charity that supported myself and my family through a very difficult time in our lives. My hair means a lot, but this means so much more.”

Ann is saying goodbye to 20 inches of her tresses for the event, that encourages participants to get the clippers out and go bald in solidarity with those experiencing effects of cancer.

Airedale Centre manager Steve Seymour said: “We're extremely proud of Ann for her determination to do this challenge, she has been so inspiring.

"She's already collected an impressive amount for Macmillan and I’m sure she'll receive many more donations."

Ann’s Brave The Shave takes place in The Fragrance Shop. People can visit bravetheshave.org.uk/shavers/ann-fitzgerald to donate.
