YOUNGSTERS took to the water to learn more about a historic canal.
Pupils from years five and six at Kildwick Primary School participated in a Canal and River Trust project.
And as part of the Paddle Power and Towpath Trail initiative, focusing on the Leeds and Liverpool Canal, they went canoeing on the waterway.
Class-four teacher, Laura Paxford, said: "The children really enjoyed this unique experience and were so excited.
"It was interesting to find out more about the canal, as the volunteers pointed out the historical features we hadn't noticed before."
Year-five pupil, Harvey Osborne, said: "It was an enjoyable and a great experience. I really liked the canoeing."
Last year, celebrations were held marking the Leeds and Liverpool Canal's 200th anniversary.
In October, canal boat the Kennet passed through Kildwick as part of an epic trip recreating the first-ever full navigation of the waterway.
