YOUNGSTERS at a Keighley primary school looked for the bear necessities – and found them in the grounds.

Reception children at Our Lady of Victories took part in a teddy bears' picnic day.

And the event included a bear hunt, which culminated with a teddy being discovered hiding in a tree.

"It was a special day for the children and they loved it," said reception teacher, Rebecca Peers.

"They had been learning about autumn and this brought the topic to an end.

"We were due to go on a trip but it had to be cancelled because of the weather, and this was a perfect alternative."

The youngsters were invited to take their own favourite teddies into school and during the morning made masks and headbands.

After a picnic, the children took part in the bear hunt and then as a class retold the story of the event.
